Warm Apples w/Almond Butter

Apples in Ayurveda also keep the doctor away! They are slightly sour and sweet and astringent and have dry and cooling qualities. When in season the only people that can eat them raw and easily digest them are Pitta constitutions. All others should eat them cooked.

Almonds are heavy, sweet, nourishing. Soaking, roasting and grinding the almonds enhances their digestibility. They aggravate Kapha so its best to leave out the almond butter and add a few walnuts and sour dried fruit instead.

Ingredients

1 tsp Coconut Oil

1 Apple (diced)

1/2 tsp. Cinnamon (ground)

1/4  tsp. Ginger powder

2 tbsps. Almond Butter

Directions

Heat the coconut oil in a small skillet over low heat. Add the diced apples and sauté for about 8 to 10 minutes, until softened. Sprinkle with cinnamon dried ginger and remove from heat.

Transfer the warm apples to a bowl and drizzle with almond butter. Enjoy!
